 APS 25-ID-C,D Update

This is the second cycle that Sector 25-ID-C has operated in general user mode, accepting approximately 50% of general user proposals and using the remaining time for scientific commissioning. During this run, we are commissioning an asymmetric HERFD-XANES spectrometer for high-energy-resolution fluorescence detection at 25-ID-C; Commissioning of the asymmetric X-ray Raman scattering (XRS) setup with imaging capability is also underway at 25-ID-D.

 APS 20-BM Update

We are excited to announce that 20-BM is in full general user operations mode allocating experimental time based on proposal score through the BAC. We have successfully measured EXAFS throughout the energy range, in-situ experiments for battery materials and catalysis materials as well as some low temperature measurements using the cryostat. We encourage you to submit proposals for 20-BM for 2026-2. For more information, please visit the APS User Information page on the User’s Portal (APS User Information | Advanced Photon Source (anl.gov)).

 APS 9-BM Update

During the last cycle, we worked to identify the most reliable operating modes for our quick-scanning monochromator. We have established several methods for dependable operation and will continue refining our procedures. As a result, we have transitioned from technical commissioning to scientific commissioning. Scientific commissioning allows us to measure user samples that meet our commissioning needs.

We encourage you to submit proposals for 9-BM, as we will draw from these for scientific commissioning experiments. We will contact groups throughout the run to schedule measurements as we work through our scientific commissioning tasks. For more information, please visit the APS User Information page on the User Portal: APS User Information | Advanced Photon Source (anl.gov).

We appreciate your patience during this time and look forward to continued collaboration. We will keep you updated.

To all of our beamline users and colleagues:

We encourage you to submit general user proposals for 20BM and 25-ID-C,D. We are excited to continue our collaboration with you and will keep you updated on our progress. For more information, please visit the APS User Information page on the User’s Portal, here.  Or, to be added to our mailing list, please contact one of us by visiting our contact page.
