APS 25-ID-C,D Update

You may recall in January we announced that 25-ID-C,D had started scientific commissioning. While this phase continues, we can now report that we were fortunate to host a few early users to assist with this set of complex tasks during the 2025-1 cycle. Experiments we have accommodated thus far have involved EXAFS of dilute samples, X-ray Raman, X-ray Emission, and HERFD. We plan to continue with the scientific commissioning at Sector 25 throughout the summer run, which begins on June 3. We recommend that you submit general user proposals, as we select from these for the science commissioning experiments. We will contact groups directly to schedule their experiments. We anticipate transitioning to normal operations by the end of the 2025-2 cycle.
APS 20-BM Update

In January 20-BM began the 2025-1 cycle in technical commissioning, and promptly transitioned to scientific commissioning. Operations in this phase allowed us to also host a few early users at 20-BM, with experiments involving EXAFS throughout the energy range, in-situ experiments for battery materials and catalysis materials, as well as some low temperature measurements using the cryostat. 20-BM will transition to general user operations in the summer run with some proposals allocated by the BAC.
APS 9-BM Update

First light at 9-BM occurred Feb 19th 2025, and we transitioned to technical commissioning within a few weeks. Since then, we have been busy with alignment and calibration of x-ray optics. During the 2025-2 cycle, which begins after the May shutdown in early June, we expect to transition to scientific commissioning, which will allow for user samples. We encourage you to submit proposals for 9-BM as we draw from these for our science commissioning experiments. As we move closer to the completion of technical commissioning, we will contact groups to schedule experiments.
